Whilst peering through you telescope at home, you stumble over what might just be a new planet. The next day you mention this to your science teacher and they say that further research is needed before it can be established as a planet. From what you have learnt in class, provide all of the information your planet would have and you teacher will help you decide whether you have discovered a planet or not. (Total marks for assignment is 20)

Name your planet

Choose a name for your planet. Describe why you have chosen this name and its significance. Also, take the blank copy of the planet picture and design the planet that you saw through the telescope. (This section is worth 4 marks)

Planet Orbit

Your planet needs to follow a path. Save the file located in 'Planet Orbit' link and draw and show the world your planet's orbit. This will be essential to determining whether your discovery is a planet or just another dwarf planet. (6 marks)

Statistical Information

The International Astronomical Union will need to know the key statistics of your planet. From what you have learnt in class, you will be able to give an estimation for each of the categories. Click on Statistical Information of fill out the information for your planet. (10 marks)
